2017 Liebster Award
Before launching my blog, I was terrified that it would be a “cut throat” world. I had no idea how I would ever fit in and make a name for myself among the millions of talented bloggers who were already established. Then, I launched Mama State of Mind…..and I was blown away by the support I received! I have also made so many wonderful friends through blogging so far and I truly feel so blessed!
As I began immersing myself into the blogging world, I started seeing the term “Liebster Award” floating around. The Liebster Award is an award given to up and coming bloggers by other bloggers. It’s a chain mail type of award that exists solely on the internet. The purpose of the award is to give new bloggers recognition and welcome them into the blogging community. If you are nominated for the award, you are supposed to nominate other bloggers and pay it forward (although you can choose to decline the award).
I was nominated for the award by Beth from The Tipsy Castle (her blog has TONS of super helpful posts about Disney, go check it out!)
Thank you SO MUCH for the nomination, Beth!
My Nominations for The Liebster Award:
As part of the award, you are required to answer some questions given to you by the nominator. Here are the questions I was given and my answers to them!
What is your favorite quote?
“She believed she could, so she did.” Growing up, I had big dreams for myself. Unfortunately, many of my dreams never came true because of the circumstances of my childhood. Eventually, I started to get very stubborn about the things I wanted to achieve. I refused to let anyone tell me I couldn’t do something. If I wanted it, I was going to get it no matter what. That stubbornness began to slowly pay off. I started reaching my goals and achieving things I never thought were possible. Now, when I start to feel discouraged, I think of that quote. It always gives me motivation to move forward towards my future.
Is there one specific person that made you who you are today?
My grandmother. She was the most selfless, loving, and attentive woman I’ve ever encountered. Everything I know about family and love, I learned from her. She was truly such an important person in my life and I feel blessed to have had her there to help me grow into the woman I am today. It’s been 4 years since she passed away and I still think of her every day.
How/why did you get into blogging?
When you’re a stay at home mom, it’s easy to feel isolated from the world. For years, I dedicated myself 110% to being a mother and a wife; slowly losing touch with who I was. I needed a way to reconnect with myself, but I wasn’t sure how to do it. Blogging wasn’t even a thought until I got added to a Facebook group called At Home. The group was created by Kristyn Cole from At Home With Kristyn Cole. (Her blog is amazing!) In August of 2016, I decided I wanted to start a blog of my own. I settled on a name and purchased the domain. From there, the process of actually starting my blog was slow. It took me until June of 2017 to finish setting things up. I worked tirelessly for 2 months, getting my blog ready for its big launch. Finally, on August 1st, 2017, my blog went live. It felt great to finally have it up for the world to see!
Advice for new bloggers?
Plan, dedicate yourself, and just do it! The entire idea of starting a blog is intimidating at first. There will be times where you feel discouraged and start to second guess yourself. DON’T. No one has your unique point of view. With the right mindset, you can (and will) make a name for yourself in blogging!
What is something not many people know about you?
I love to sing!
Where do you see yourself in 1, 5, and 10 years?
One year: Still working hard to better myself and care for my family.
Five years: Well established in the blogging world and bringing in a bit of extra income from my blog.
Ten Years: Hopefully relaxing on the beach somewhere. Or living peacefully in a house I was able to buy for myself and my family!
What is your most proud moment in life thus far?
It would definitely have to be becoming a mother. Of all the things I have accomplished in life, motherhood has been the most rewarding. Raising my daughter (soon to be daughters) is such an important role. I take pride in knowing that I am responsible for shaping her into a well rounded person. She gives me so much strength and confidence. I strive to better myself in order to be a positive role model for her.
Now that I’ve answered my questions, it’s your turn! If I have nominated you for The Liebster Award, please answer the questions below to complete your nomination!
- How did you choose your blog’s name?
- If you could be on any reality TV show, which would you choose and why?
- Who has been the most influential person in your life?
- Give us a link to the blog post that you enjoyed writing the most!
- Favorite musician/band?
- If you could travel anywhere in the world, free of cost, where would you go and why?
- Advice for new bloggers?
Thanks again to Beth from The Tipsy Castle for the nomination! I am so happy to be a part of the blogging community. Everyone I have encountered has been so welcoming and supportive. The success I’ve had with Mama State of Mind wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for my fellow bloggers. You guys rock!
