Isla Anneston Kate is ONE
Wow. Crazy how time flies.
I can’t believe it’s been a year since our littlest love was born.
A year ago today, I woke up with cramps. I figured it was just from my membrane sweep the day before and brushed it off. I grabbed Elsie out of bed and brought her into my bed to cuddle. About an hour later, I woke up to contractions. I decided it was time to start getting ready to head to the hospital. By the time my husband got home, my contractions were about 2-3 minutes apart and very intense. We loaded up the car and made the 10 minute trip to the hospital.
When we arrived, they got me into a triage room and began the admission process. While we were waiting, I started feeling tons of pressure. I told my husband to go find a doctor. He was only gone for a few minutes, but as he and the doctor walked back into the room, my water broke. Before I knew it, I was being wheeled to the nearest delivery room. The second I hit the delivery bed, Isla was born.
My entire labor and delivery lasted 2 hours. It was the most chaotic and painful experience of my life, but also so empowering to have given birth naturally. As hectic as that day was, it will forever be etched in my memory as one of the best days of my life.
This past year, having Isla in our lives, has been wonderful. She is such a sweet, joyful baby and every day is an adventure with her. She’s fearless, rambunctious, and such a goofball. It’s been amazing to watch her learn and grow each day. She truly completes our family and we are so blessed to have her.
Happy 1st Birthday, Isla Anneston Kate!
